Australian Charged With Rape On Board Cruise Ship

A man is due in court, charged with raping a woman on board a cruise ship off the coast of Brisbane. 

Queensland Police have confirmed a 33 year old man, from Deception Bay, has been charged with one count of rape. 

The incident allegedly happened on Saturday,with the man arrested when the ship docked at Brisbane's Portside Wharf in Hamilton on Monday. 

A P&O Cruises spokesperson has confirmed the incident happened on board the Pacific Aria. 

"P&O Cruises asked Queensland Police to investigate an alleged sexual assault onboard Pacific Aria. This followed an allegation by a female passenger that she was assaulted by a travelling companion."

"A cabin was sealed and, having reported the alleged assault to police, we have been assisting them fully in their inquiries."

Pacific Aria returned to Brisbane on Monday after a 3 night/4 day Food & Wine round trip.
