Australia's most wanted terrorist, Neil Prakash, is receiving Australian consular assistance from his maximum-security prison cell in Turkey.

Health Minister, Greg Hunt, told Seven's Sunrise program the government's focus was the intelligence information about ISIS Prakash could share.

"That's our interest, precisely so as to protect Australians at home and abroad," he said.

The Melbourne-born Islamic State recruiter, arrested on October 24, told Turkish authorities he married a Dutch jihadi bride while fighting in Syria and the couple have two children who may be entitled to Australian citizenship, News Corp has reported.

Julie Bishop confirmed consular officials in Turkey are providing "basic" assistance to Mr Prakash.
