Bad News For Aussie Pirates

The Federal Court has today ordered Internet Services Providers (ISPs) across Australia to block access to five websites — including famous torrent site The Pirate Bay — that it says facilitate copyright infringement.

In a win for copyright holders, the Federal Court has given ISPs 15 business days to block The Pirate Bay, Torrentz, TorrentHound, IsoHunt and streaming service SolarMovie.

Foxtel and Village Roadshow were the applicants, having filed their case to the Federal Court in February.

Foxtel went after IsoHunt, The Pirate Bay, TorrentHound, Torrentz and Torrentz, while Village Roadshow took on SolarMovie.

Telstra, Optus, TPG and M2 were the major respondents.

The operators of the blocked websites were not represented in the court and did not appear at the hearing.

The judgement means that only the music industry's case against Kickass Torrents remains active.
