Students sitting the Higher School Certificate next year will be able to take 'drone flying' as a subject, with the 'drone studies' unit to be offered at 25 schools in NSW.
The program will have a 12 month trial, with NSW the first state in Australia to run the class.
With an emphasis on preparing students for the jobs of the future, Nine News has reported that drone technology is evolving at such a rapid pace that by the time these students finish school, the field will have advanced even further.
"These students graduate as very highly skilled pilots by the end of that," General Manager of UAVAir Ashley Cox said.
"We see that linking into their career options in the future."
