Queens Gardens is one of the most picturesque spots in Townsville, with many local events and weddings being held their annually.
Now the sounds of birds chirping will be the backdrop to these occasions once again.
In 2017 the birds were removed from the current aviary, and now the aviary itself is being replaced.
A new and improved aviary is about to call Queens Gardens home.
The construction which will meet modern building and animal welfare standards will go in near the Rose Garden.
The project in total will cost around $500,000.
Residents were saddened by the news that the birds had been removed last year, so here's hoping it becomes a sanctuary for our feathered friends.
