With reports indicating a low pressure system in the Coral Sea could potentially develop into a Cyclone next week, it’s a timely reminder to ensure you’re Cyclone Ready.
Get out the family emergency kit and ensure everything is in working order and up to date (and those baked beans haven’t expired). It’s also good to make sure everyone in the house knows where it’s stored.
If you haven’t started getting your kit together yet check out the Queensland Government Website – which lists all the items you need.
We asked Chris Nitsopoulos from Oz Cyclone Chasers what the chances were of a cyclone crossing the North Queensland Coast.
He said “There’s a fairly good chance that a cyclone will develop in the coral sea over the weekend and into very early next week but in terms of where it’s going to cross it’s too hard (to speculate) at the moment’.
He also said “There’s a good chance here that we’ll see a fair bit of rain out of this, especially if it moves to our North.”
“If it’s moving slowly enough it could actually help to fill that dam up a bit.”
We’ll continue to keep you updated with the latest.
