The sweet smell of cane will fill the air in the Burdekin and Herbert River this week for day one of the Sugar Cane crushing season.
It's all starting from Wednesday at Wilmar's Herbert and Burdekin mills.
But that means when we hit the roads and drive north or south, we need to keep our eyes peeled for Sugar Cane Trains.
The locomotives will be moving the harvested cane from farms to the mills, and in some instances their paths cross the Bruce Highway.
Some cane train crossings are controlled by lights and boom gates, whilst others rely on you to proceed with caution and give way to the locos.
Drive steady and get the camera ready- it's quite the sight!
